WWE Survivor Series 1998: 5 Awesome Things And 5 That Sucked

4. The Women's Title Still Didn't Mean Much

The Women's Title saw Jacqueline defend the gold against Sable. While Sable was very popular with the fans, she was still very green in the ring. You could see that she was really just about doing the spots and not much else at all. They managed to pop the crowd by having her attack Jackie's "friend" Marc Mero, who was actually Sable's husband at the time. She even hit Mero with a Powerbomb on the floor, which Mero didn't sell for long because about 30 seconds later he was back talking trash to Sable. It was a very basic match with Jacqueline in control for much of it. Sable really didn't do much on offense aside from a few basic holds early. When Jackie didn't hit the Tornado DDT, Sable pushed her off and hit a Sable Bomb (the powerbomb) for the win. WWE tried really hard to make fans think that the Women's Title was some valuable prize, but it took over a year for them to really establish it and build up the division to mean something that fans were invested in.
