WWE Survivor Series 2013 Review: 7 Biggest Talking Points

1. Randy Orton Vs. Big Show, WWE Title

the-big-show Before the main event, John Cena could be seen talking backstage with Triple H and Stephanie. Orton then walked in and there was a small stare down. Cena walked away. The main event kicked off with Orton evading Big Show to start. The action stepped up a bit, before Orton killed it with a sleeper hold. Very loud chants of "Boring" kicked in from the crowd. Not what WWE wants to hear during its main events, hm? The crowd then went quiet at times, as this really wasn't a hot main event - what can you expect, given that the promotion of it has been abysmal? Still, it went even lower. There was a ref bump, leading to Orton and Show having a small brawl in the crowd. As Show got Orton back to ringside, he hit the KO punch. This led to Hunter and Steph coming out, and from that distraction Randy recovered and hit the RKO. There were now loud "Daniel Bryan" chants, a further sign that WWE has screwed their main event scene up. The disaster was compounded when Orton went to hit the punt kick but clearly missed - Show sold anyway and Orton pinned him. It was really poor form for WWE to do yet another screwy main event finish. Fans are going to be put off investing in these pay per view shows. This is now way too many in a row - the finish at next month's TLC surely must be a clean one. The big angle came right at the end as John Cena's music played. Hunter and Steph turned as if they had expected the world champion. Cena stood between Hunter and Steph, and then got in the ring to hold his title up as Orton held his up too. Looks like a Champion Vs. Champion bout down the line, perhaps, and an interesting angle to end the show on, at least. What does all this mean? Are the belts going to be unified? Is Cena working with the Authority? Are we going to see a double turn with Orton and Cena? There was a small bonus for fans in the arena after the PPV went off air, Vince McMahon came out for some interaction with Triple H and will probably be on Raw tonight. Overall, then, it was a decent show with a terrible main event. Critically-speaking, most insiders have offered up this same view, and the fan reaction seems to be along the same lines, too.
