WWE Survivor Series Begins The Road To WrestleMania

4. The Rhodes Family

Cody Rhodes With Battleground now just over a week away, it seems as though Monday Night's RAW will provide the final batch of ingredients needed to stir it up in time for the first of two PPVs in October. While some matches have already been booked for Battleground (two rematches from Night of Champions - Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan, and Alberto Del Rio vs. Rob Van Dam) we are still unclear on what will feature on the rest of the card. With the Rhodes Family invasion taking us all by surprise last week on RAW, will they play a part to some extent at Battleground? Chances are Goldust's involvement will be limited, but the future looks very bright for Cody Rhodes, who as of late has found himself in a very unique position in the WWE pecking order. He's a believable face, in a position where he can challenge for a championship and the fans dig it. The real question is - is he ready to take on a WWE Champion? Or is it too soon? Ideally, Rhodes should have a feud with someone who can propel him into that realm of elites. A street fight/no-DQ match with Orton in the near future could be that platform, especially if you consider how well they worked together in their match on the September 2nd episode of RAW. Prediction: Looking at the rumour mill suggests that Goldust will have some part to play, but with Dusty Rhodes recently relieved of his duties as NXT General Manager, it might be time for Goldust to take that leap, with his in-ring career perhaps nearing conclusion. Talk of a Tag-Team Championship match at Battleground is optimistic, considering the amount of tag teams there are on the current roster that perform week in, week out. I see Cody Rhodes coming back and dethroning either Ambrose or Axel (more than likely Ambrose due to The Shield ties) in what could be his final minor title before hitting the big leagues. In terms of whether it will impact Survivor Series, it could well be the night that Rhodes faces Orton in that street fight I so wish would happen. By the time WrestleMania rolls around, Rhodes could well be at the top of his game, challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship, perhaps? Rhodes vs. Sandow may not be dead yet!
