WWE: The Rise And Fall Of The World Heavyweight Championship

The Brogue Kick Of Doom

daniel bryan Ask anyone to nominate one moment when the World Heavyweight Championship's status went down the toilet and they'll invariably tell you "Wrestlemania 28". This was when the World Title got approximately one twentieth of the time of the Intercontinental Title- an odd decision at the best of times, but when it contained two of the hottest rising stars in the company- Sheamus and Daniel Bryan it smacks of ludicrousness. The thing was, that the repercussions didn't just last that night (as if it wasn't bad enough that the World Title was not seen as important enough to make a decent match out of), but also dogged Sheamus for the entirety of his World Championship run. Despite having some great matches with the likes of Alberto Del Rio, Chris Jericho, Dolph Ziggler, Randy Orton, the Big Show and eventually Daniel Bryan, his title run was crippled before it got a chance to really get going, and the title was hurt by extension.
