3. Becky's Heartache

As visceral as the Alexa vs. Becky finish was, the deposed champion’s post-match reaction really hammered it home. Dasha Fuentes caught-up with Lynch afterwards, but Becky was too upset to talk. She didn’t blame the interviewer for doing her job, but she was absolutely devastated and needed to be left alone.

Becky compounded these emotions after the match with an exclusive interview on WWE’s YouTube channel. She was overcome by disappointment for all the people she’d let down, and literally begged Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan for an immediate rematch against her hated rival. Becky was defeated, but not destroyed, and vowed to comeback stronger than ever.

Becky’s reactions did wonders not only to sell Alexa’s victory, but immediately recover whatever heat Lynch lost from the outcome. Fans have come to expect fire and determination from Lynch, but rarely has she looked so emotionally vulnerable. In tapping into these emotions, Becky has painted herself as the perfect sympathetic foil for Alexa’s megalomania. Though not as eye-catching as some of the night’s biggest spots, Becky’s reaction to her defeat was just as important as almost anything else on the show.
