WWE TLC 2017: 8 Things WWE Got Right

3. Booking Bálor To Beat Styles

Finn Bálor needed the win at TLC much more than AJ Styles. For the SmackDown man, the in-built excuse of tiredness from travelling overnight from South America is something the announcers can harp on about. Bálor had no such excuses, because he was supposedly readying himself to go through hell against 'Sister Abigail' anyway.

This was a short notice deal for AJ, and he performed admirably regardless of any jet lag. It's no disgrace that he lost to Bálor, but for Finn winning was a must, and hopefully he can now move on from the cheesy Bray Wyatt nonsense into a role befitting his high-quality ring work. Oh, and there was the little 'Too Sweet' action post-match too.

For the first time since returning from injury, Bálor has a story he can become invested in without brave-facing the supernatural. The idea that The Bullet Club might invade WWE is a very real, organic tale the company can weave over the next few months, and Bálor himself can do that with newfound momentum.
