WWE And TNA: 8 Worst Moments Of The Week (June 29)

2. The Heels Suck

WWE.comWWE.comIn football if you had a couple extra players on the field, you would be at a tremendous advantage over your opponent. If you were in a real life fight, you€™d probably want to be on the side that had the larger numbers. In professional wrestling, the reverse of this is true. More men just means a higher chance that you€™re going to lose. It makes no logical sense, and yet it happens time and time again. On SmackDown, we saw the four man team of Cesaro, Bray Wyatt, Alberto Del Rio and Randy Orton lose to John Cena, Roman Reigns and Sheamus. It had to be a fluke right? Well, just to make sure, WWE booked the exact same match again on Monday night because...well, just because. Against all odds, the same outcome happened. Yes, WWE is in a rush to make Roman Reigns a big star, and they always protect Cena and Sheamus to ridiculous levels, but they just further damaged their already week heel side of the roster on back-to-back shows. Now, if say Sheamus was pinned would that have hurt him at all? After all, he lost a handicapped match, the odds were against him. He could still look strong in defeat, and my guess is that he would have been just fine. But the mystique of Bray Wyatt is hurt when he ends up as a loser in match where a victory should be so easy. It€™s consistently poor booking like this that has damaged the credibility of guys like Del Rio, Jack Swagger, Damien Sandow and others. When the faces are so unbelievably strong, then it€™s actually the heels that turn into the underdogs.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
