Netflix will show a brand new documentary called WWE Unreal on 29 July that promises to take fans "into the writer's room and the homes of their greatest Superstars to show the year-round work it takes to execute one of the most secretive shows in the world week over week". In short, this is a behind the scenes look at how business operates for the pro wrestling market leader day to day.

One of the biggest selling points for the new WWE doc is finding out fresh details about everyone's thinking behind John Cena's dramatic heel turn back at Elimination Chamber Toronto in early-March. That bit of booking rocked the entire industry immediately, but many have been critical of Cena's heel run since. It's included matches against the likes of Randy Orton and CM Punk, but The Rock's absence has been challenging to overcome considering how huge a role he played in the turn.

It'll be interesting to see whether or not Unreal brings Dwayne Johnson up at all, but he was featured in the trailer. The same goes for Travis Scott too. He was there when Cena punted Cody Rhodes in the balls and went rogue, but he's been posted missing for a while himself. The fact that 2 out of 3 heels from the segment have barely been on WWE TV since hasn't gone down well with fans.

Unreal on Netflix will hopefully examine all of that in-depth and give some added context to what was running through John's head before going heel for the first time in over 20 years.

Footage from the official trailer for Unreal shows everyone from John Cena and Triple H to CM Punk, Charlotte Flair and Cody Rhodes. It doesn't seem like WWE imposed any restrictions on Netflix when filming, so there are clips of wrestlers hanging around ringside before doors open for major shows, and even footage of them on the road or at home.

Of course, this is nothing unprecedented. WWE was producing behind the scenes snapshots for years before signing on the dotted line with Netflix, but there's a huge amount of buzz about what'll be included in Unreal. Some believe this could very well be the most comprehensive look yet at how WWE operates away from the bright lights of Raw, SmackDown etc.

What actually goes into producing some of wrestling's biggest and best moments will go under the microscope on 29 July.
