WWE: Tyson Kidd Talks Devastating Knee Injury And Impressive Recovery
Tyson Kidd has talked to WhatCulture via Twitter about the terrible knee injury that kept him out for much of the last year, also revealing the impressive recovery he has managed to succeed with. Kidd reveals the injury was "a lot more than torn meniscus. If that was the case I would have been out a month." In fact he had suffered what he describes as a "dislocated knee", but even that description doesn't do justice to just how severe his knee injury was. Going into further detail, Kidd tells the devastating extent of his problem "It was torn ACL, MCL, LCL, meniscus, muscles in the back of the knee and tibia plateau fracture." That excruciating description gives you some idea of the severity of this potentially career ending knee dislocation. It speaks measures of Kidd's toughness that he managed to come back from this setback. What's even more impressive is the way he healed ahead of time, showing great character throughout the months of rehab and physiotherapy. "Got cleared 6 and 1/2 months out. Was told 9-12," Kidd declares proudly. It's indeed an amazing recovery, with most athletes usually taking even more than a year to come back from such problems. Kidd initially hurt the knee at a WWE live event, but it was only later that the true extent of the problem was realised. Ironically, the veteran went 17 years without badly hurting himself before this problem. A combination of his tenacious attitude and the help of orthopaedic surgeon Dr James Andrews helped him back to the ring in less than a year Kidd returned to the WWE ring in the fall of 2013 and also stars on Total Divas alongside wife Natalya. The man termed "workhorse" by his peers will now hopefully see further triumphs in his career as the 2014 WWE year progresses.
