WWE: The Ultimate Warrior - 5 Awesome Matches And 5 That Sucked

4. Ultimate Warrior Vs The Undertaker

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7w1JWmBNByU Two of the greatest gimmick wrestlers of all time, clashes like this are always going to be worth watching. Taker vs Warrior is a contest that happened regularly in the cartoon era, usually to a very good standard. What I love about these contests is they are full on early 90's WWF, a face painted bodybuilder taking on an undead zombie. It is like watching a comic book come to life, appealing to our youthful enthusiasm for vibrancy. The action itself in this video is well executed by both men. Taker works everything with purpose, selling and moving in just the right way. Warrior runs through his standard moveset, giving the crowd exactly what they wanted to see. The action was engaging and forceful from the big men. One thing about Warrior is he always used the ropes well. When Hellwig ran into those ropes and bounced back for the clotheslines it had the "oof" factor. I have to give Warrior credit for his selling in this bout too, Taker looked the stronger man for long periods ... until Warrior kicked out of a tombstone that is. The match concluded with a spot that involved Warrior being placed in a body bag, but our hero escaped and took the win with a dq. Bodybags in a wrestling match? Well, this is the Undertaker - the one man who can pull ridiculous gimmicks off. While this video match was enjoyable, the work between Taker and Warrior on house shows was said to be even better. It makes sense when you think about it. Two big powerful workers with engaging characters battling it out for supremacy ... wrestling is built on stories like this. While people like realism these days, the lack of original characters like Warrior and Taker is one of the biggest problems facing WWE right now.
