WWE: The Ultimate Warrior - 5 Awesome Matches And 5 That Sucked

5 Awesome Matches...

5. Ultimate Warrior Vs Randy Savage, Summerslam 1992

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnky0ScxOYw Summerslam 1992 was an iconic event, emanating from the grandeur of the old Wembley Stadium. It was a fitting stage for the clash of two personalities as huge as The Ultimate Warrior and Macho Man Randy Savage. Whether it was the 80,000 attendance or the two big names clashing for the WWF Championship, this just felt spectacular. The colourful nature of both men kitted out in their vivid costumes, shades and face paint were exactly what attracted us to wrestling in this period. Over the top superheroes battling it out was what we loved about the WWF. In these days we didn't want to see a mat classic, we wanted to see power wrestling! The match even looking back now was an entertaining bash of muscles. Savage of course carried the bulk of it, using his more agile athleticism to add some pace and accuracy to proceedings. Warrior did what Warrior does best - slams, clotheslines, punches and posing. There isn't anything wrong with that. Listen to the London crowd - they loved it! Ric Flair and Mr.Perfect got involved later in the match, which added even more drama and star power to the contest. The result of this was a count out victory for Warrior after Savage was unable to answer a ten count. It's the kind of spot that would get heat today, but on this day in 1992 it took nothing away from an enthusiastic bunch of fans enjoying seeing their heroes. Warrior didn't get the title due to the countout win, but it didn't matter - the visual of seeing Warrior and Savage embracing afterwards was a win for the crowd. Two giants of the WWF giving us all a moment we have never forgotten.
