13. Tape Was Expensive

Could you imagine classics like Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat with huge titles on the line not being recorded for television?

This was the case back in the late 1970s/early 80s as tape was just too expensive for certain promoters to produce. This meant that the chosen cameraman at an arena would have to chance his hand and record the parts of the match that he thought were important.

This is demonstrated at the start of the DVD as a match between Flair and Steamboat is shown, with large chunks missing including the finish. We don't get to see who came out on top of what was a thrilling contest between the pair.

We can only assume the cameraman must have ran out of that expensive tape.
