The other half of McMahon's Wrestlemania 3 extravaganza was Hulk Hogan. Let's be clear here, without Hogan, none of McMahon's empire would exist. His colourful brand of heroism was what catapulted Vince from regional promoter to global sensation. Hulk Hogan made pro wrestling into a pop culture phenomenon. For this reason, the Hulkster became McMahon's favourite wrestler ever. All of a sudden Vince was seeing money pour into the WWF, cartoons, t shirts, action figures - all stemming from Hogan. Pretty soon Vince was building new wings of his mansion and having Hulk over for pool parties. The two men had built a money making machine. Unfortunately, the relationship soured. The time period in which McMahon and Hogan could work as a creative dynamism was limited. Within a couple of years, both were on different pages, Vince looking to new stars and Hogan looking to Hollywood at the same time as wanting to be the top wrestling star. Vince and Hogan's mindsets no longer gelled. The franchise star would end up going to WCW as Vince switched gears to find the next big star. To this day, you could no longer call these men friends anymore. Both are now businessmen through and through. However, there is no denying the impression that Hulk made on Vince the features that Hogan demonstrated (colourful personality, height, size) are still the attributes Vince desires in his wrestlers. The boss of the WWE was a huge Hogan fan and in many ways is still looking to replace the legend.
