WWE Vs. AEW: Which Promotion Does It Better?
2. Match Quality
Another no contest.
Whether you prefer a bit more in-ring psychology to your matches or not, it's true that AEW is the place to be for pure wrestling thrills. This writer did roll his eyes a few times at the litany of near falls towards the end of The Young Bucks vs. Kenny Omega and Hangman Page at Revolution, but even he can't claim they didn't give the audience exactly what they wanted.
People in Chicago craved that sort of epic-ness, and they were willing to suspend their disbelief if one of the four refused to sell for longer than two seconds before moving onto the next spot. In terms of giving the core fanbase following the product what they want to see bell-to-bell, AEW does a much better job than WWE.
Every match seems important, even on Dynamite, and that's a great thing. Combine that with a hungry roster who are left to their own devices and things get even better. Regardless of personal preference (and this guy, again, would like a bit less in the way of 'movez' and way more selling), AEW's matches are high quality.
Only a fool would insist some of this stuff isn't blistering.
Winner: AEW
