WWE Vs. AEW: Which Promotion Does It Better?

9. Commentary

Mauro Ranallo
WWE

There isn't a better commentator in wrestling today than NXT's Mauro Ranallo, and he helps WWE mightily in this category. The way Mauro passionately projects his admiration for what he's seeing, puts over hidden storyline beats and energetically ties it all together is quite stunning to witness.

AEW's Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur trio do have freedom on their side. They're not burdened by having a control-freak boss scream over their headsets during broadcasts like the WWE lot are, and that must be bliss. In a weird way however, that makes the job the likes of Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Tom Phillips and others do even more special.

How they're able to concentrate on shilling products, being live-edited and still put over matches, stories and characters is anyone's guess. Despite not having that McMahon hairdryer in his ears constantly, Ranallo is just so good that he sways this one.

AEW's commentary core is solid, but Ranallo is the man.
