WWE Vs. AEW: Which Promotion Does It Better?

6. Nostalgia

AEW

The winner of this one might come as a surprise.

WWE do love a nostalgic blast from the past. Goldberg is the latest example (again), and they regularly produce those 'Old School Raw' episodes when they want to pop a quick rating or can't be arsed to think of a more standard broadcast. The problem with those is that they feel half-baked and one-off.

There's more love in AEW's nods to wrestling history. Whenever stars from yesteryear like Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Jake Roberts or DDP have been wheeled out for a performance, they've been used to enhance ongoing storylines rather than work one-night angles aimed at those longing for the 1980s/90s.

That 'Bash At The Beach' edition of Dynamite was also a homage to a WCW great, and there's no doubt the 'Blood & Guts' War Games match they're about to present will knock WWE's NXT version for six. It'll be more authentic, for a start, and that authenticity rings true whenever AEW drum up fond memories.
