The Rock vs. John Cena
If there were ever two perfectly matched opponents, it'd be these two. At similar heights and similar builds these two fan-favourite competitors have clashed before, most notably at WrestleMania 28 in what was surely one of the most hyped matches in the event's long, illustrious history. So it isn't quite the Showcase of the Immortals; Royal Rumble still enjoys its own healthy sense of prestige and if The Great One and The Franchise meet in the squared circle it doesn't matter what the event, the hype will generate. A match-up between these two will always have a unique quality. Cena fit perfectly into the fan-favourite role in the absence of The Rock because of his similar ability and effortless charisma; but whenever the Brahma Bull returns to the ring you can hear it in the jubilation of the fans that they've never quite fully embraced the change. If the history between these two is any sort of gauge, their match would be slow to start but like so many of the greatest delicacies would build over time. Thanks to their even statistics and their babyface reputations, Rock and Cena would most definitely go toe-to-toe with each other until one could no longer stand - no strategy, no cheap tricks, just good old-fashioned wrasslin'. Cena has been WWE Champion many times before, so it's not far from the realms of human imagination to say he could just as easily be again between now and the Royal Rumble in January. Only one thing is for certain at this point; when Rock and Cena clash, fans scream themselves hoarse.
