WWE WrestleMania 1 Stars - Where Are They Now?

35. Gorilla Monsoon & Jesse 'The Body' Ventura

Robert James 'Gorilla Monsoon' Marella was a memorable commentator who enjoyed using hyperbole to oversell the excitement wherever he was. It worked to some degree, and he was loved for his commitment to making WWE as big as it could be. He was so trusted by the powers-that-be in WWE that he was rumored to be the person that would take over WWE if Vince Jr. were to be found guilty during his steroid trial. Marella was immortalized into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1994, and his name lived on in WWE with Santino Marella as well as with the 'Gorilla position' backstage. After commentating at WrestleMania I alongside Monsoon, and being one of the first and most memorable heel commentators, Ventura has since become famous for his four-year tenure as mayor of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Governor of Minnesota, his role in the 1987 film €˜Predator€™, and his outspoken and at times highly-controversial political views. He also created and starred in a TV series titled €˜Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura€™, and currently has another show called €˜Off the Grid€™ that airs on Ora TV.
