WWE WrestleMania 1 Stars - Where Are They Now?

8. Pat Patterson

As the other referees in the main event of the first WrestleMania, it was Patteron€™s job to try and call the match as fairly as possible. Though it wasn€™t a particularly glamorous job, and he had to share the role with celebrity guess Muhammed Ali, Patterson was simply doing his job: filling whatever role Vince McMahon wanted him to. In the years after WrestleMania I, Patterson would become a crucial figure in WWE€™s backstage decisions. Vince McMahon credited him as the creative force behind the Royal Rumble concept, and he€™s heavily involved in other booking decisions to this day. He was temporarily released from the company following sexual harassment accusations, but was rehired after the charges were dropped. After spending some time portraying a stooge character on-screen, Patterson returned to his backstage responsibilities, which he still does to this day.
