WWE WrestleMania 15 Fantasy Booking - 9 Matches To Make It Better
5. WWF Intercontinental Title - Val Venis (c) vs. Ken Shamrock
In a way to give as many talent a payday as possible the real WrestleMania 15 had a four corners Intercontinental Title match between Road Dogg, Ken Shamrock, Goldust and Val Venis. It was an utterly forgettable affair that just took a spot on the card for four mid carders. Road Dogg was never a superstar who suited the Intercontinental division and with multiple men the contest wasn't pleasant on the eye. Rebooking this one is easy. Road Dogg never wins the IC Title from Val Venis and instead this contest is a continuation of the feud between Venis and Ken Shamrock, with his sister Ryan Shamrock in the middle of it, as Val hopes to date her against her brother's wishes. Venis and Shamrock had a solid, fast-paced mid card match at the previous St. Valentine's Day Massacre PPV and it could be carried on here with a follow-up. Given another 15-20 minutes and this one could be the workhorse match of the night... both competitors were good workers and could put on a good spectacle when the story was strong. With it being the third match on this card this one really gets the audience settled into the show with the first great match of the night. The finish could see Ryan Shamrock inadvertently cost Venis the match and the IC Title with some kind of mistake bump that sees Shamrock once again retain the title, and ending the Venis/Ryan subplot.
