Fandango Vs Damien Sandow
I am still in shock that this whole Fandango gimmick has gained some purchase. I was there on the RAW after Mania and was a part of the birth of Fandangoing and by god has WWE milked it dry already! BUT to their credit they tend to milk things dry and then evolve the character beyond the craze. I can actually see this happening. Sandow is a character that is well worth having on your roster. His ability to put down an opponent whilst also being comedic is a genuine skill but one that wont make him World Champion anytime soon. Both of these guys will function a lot in the same way; humorous gimmicks being portrayed by tough wrestlers. As long as they have feuds and things to do throughout a year, I dont see why these two couldnt be a big part of the undercard. And thats pretty much the basis of this match. The lead up would be fun and wouldnt require too much time and the addition of a battle of the gimmicks is always welcome. Especially when the gimmicks are over with the fan base! Give both men a Midcard title run with either the IC or US straps just so they seem to be genuine players, have them drop the straps to an established star and see how they do. Both men are a bit of a gamble to get behind but gambles I believe could pay off. The match would be a comedic stitchfest for a short period naturally but after a short time I would like to see these two actually wrestle and wrestle hard! Show the fans just how much they can go and who knows, after the event the two could move on and evolve further into potential Superstars! You may notice going forward that Sandow current tag partner Cody Rhodes isnt mentioned. Again I dont see him accomplishing too much in his near future. Hes a decent enough wrestler but theres just not enough going for him to make me push him further than a glorified jobber. I like him but who actually cares? When a guy has to grow a moustache to get attention you know things arent looking great. After the two scholars feud over the US title early in the season, I would drop Cody from serious competition. Who knows, maybe in the coming months hell show me a reason to include him in Mania 30. I actually kinda hope so.
