8. A MOTY Candidate

!--> Say what you want about HHH but on the big stage when it counts he delivers. At Wrestlemania 30 he delivered in spades, his match with Daniel Bryan was not only the best of the night but an early candidate for match of the year. At the start of the match Bryan and HHH perfectly told a story that echoed the announce team; this was HHH€™s 18th Wrestlemania compared to only Bryan€™s 3rd. It helped build sympathy and establish the odds against Bryan, this made his victory and resulting WWE Championship capture all the more sweeter. The only real low point of the contest was what seemed like a bizarre tribute to Chris Benoit. Half way through the match and not for the first time in his career HHH decided to lock in the Crippler Crossface. The second he locked it in the audience groaned, you would think a veteran like HHH would know better and learn from this mistake. Clearly he didn€™t because the €˜Cerebral Assassin€™ would lock the move in for a second time. Further invoking comparisons to Benoit on the second time he and Bryan drew from the finish of Wrestlemania 20 and move for move executed the same roll through and counter that won Benoit the WWE Championship. The crowd hated it. The match continued and despite over 20 years into his career HHH busted out some completely new additions to his repertoire. A Tiger Suplex, A Crossface Chickenwing at one stage the 44 year old took a brutal sunset-flip powerbomb off the second rope. Credit where its due HHH worked his ass of at Wrestlemania 30 and it showed in the quality of the match. If you haven€™t already you owe it to yourself to check the match out; one of the best in recent memory and one of the best in HHH€™s illustrious career.
