WWE WrestleMania 32: 10 Reasons It Didn't Suck
2. The Undertaker's Match Was A Marked Improvement On Last Year
The Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon was drawn-out to around 30 minutes. At WrestleMania 31, Undertaker faced Bray Wyatt in a relatively empty-feeling bout which ran for just over half of that duration. That match came the year following the end of the man's historic 'Mania winning streak.
This made it challenging for Undertaker and Wyatt to spark interest in their feud, because the big threat of ending the streak had vanished. Shane and 'The Deadman' didn't have that problem. Undertaker was always going to beat Wyatt, but there were doubts over whether or not he'd emerge victorious this year.
That means it was a by far more interesting scenario. People can complain all they like about the stodgy pace of the Hell In A Cell war, but it fit the narrative of the match. Each man was trying to outshine the other and protect their respective legacies.
Compared to the apathetic response The Undertaker's WrestleMania match received last time around, this was much more dramatic and captivating.
