WWE WrestleMania 33: 10 Returns That Could Happen
8. Jon Stewart
The New Day are hosting WrestleMania, and if you think that means we’ll see a lot of concise and efficient segues and match-building interviews, you’re probably in for a nasty surprise. The New Day will no doubt be incredibly entertaining, but there’s a danger that their shenanigans will overshadow the actual matches on the card, replacing them with meandering skits and cameos. WWE loves it when celebrities show up on big name PPVs, and if The New Day are looking for somebody familiar to trade verbal jabs with, they need look no further than Jon Stewart.
Stewart technically became an honorary member of the New Day at SummerSlam last year, during an intensely awkward segment in which the former Daily Show host looked like he’d rather be anywhere else. Having Stewart come out to sample New Day Pops or try on some new merchandise would be a pretty savvy move for WWE; it might bring in more mainstream viewers and give the show an air of celebrity.
Besides, this year’s Hall of Fame roster is currently lacking a celebrity inductee, a role that Jon Stewart would fit into nicely.
