WWE WrestleMania 35: 12 Live Observations From A Casual Fan

9. Not Testing Out Lighting Seems Unforgivable

For the second time in a matter of three days, a WWE PPV (whether that's main roster or NXT) was partly overshadowed by lighting issues. At TakeOver, one rogue spotlight burned a hole in the retinas of a large section of the audience in the upper tiers until someone eventually realised and turned it off and then the exact same thing happened at Mania.

As Randy Orton so delightfully confirmed on Instagram, the offending lights at the MetLife were yellow roaming spots that lit up the crowd and made actually seeing his perfunctory but fine match with AJ Styles impossible to see.

Stupidly, this was a creative choice that nobody at any point checked by sitting in the crowd seats to see if they were annoying and blinding. That's just ridiculous when the staging is based more around lightning and a digital element than previous years, isn't it?
