WWE WrestleMania 38: 10 Things That Must Happen
3. “AEW” Cody Rhodes Debuts
Note the inverted commas.
There's been a lot of scuttlebutt about WWE retaining Cody Rhodes' AEW presentation when he finally re-debuts with the promotion. They really should give that some thought, 'cause there's no point in pretending that he's been sitting doing sod all since 2016. The man helped create a competitor, for crying out loud.
If WWE can find a way to present Cody as an All Elite incomer akin to Scott Hall debuting on WCW Nitro in 1996, then they'll shake things right up. The company don't even need to say the loudest words - those fans who care are clever enough to connect the dots, and those who don't will have a fresh wrestler to watch regardless of where he used to work.
The match with Seth Rollins is a tough one. The guy writing this piece would plump for a quick Cody win, because having him go back and forth from the off just makes Rhodes look like everybody else. He has to stand out immediately.
