WWE WrestleMania 42 Main Event Revealed?! (WWE News)

Survivor Series 2025 will reportedly drop major teasers for WrestleMania 42's feature attraction.

Wrestling Observer head Dave Meltzer claims he has been "“given the impression” that events during Saturday's (men's) WarGames bout at Survivor Series will include “teases that will help you figure out who the WrestleMania main event will be". CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes and The Usos team up to take on Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker and Logan Paul on this weekend's PLE.

According to Meltzer, it's looking likely that Punk vs. Reigns will headline either night at 'Mania 42 next spring.

That could be a solid prediction. WWE boss Triple H hasn't pulled the trigger on that match as a singles outing yet, but he did fawn over the pair's Triple Threat bout with currently injured star Seth Rollins back at WrestleMania 41. There was footage of 'The Game' loving every second on Netflix show WWE Unreal.

Other interactions between Punk and Roman have included verbal spats over treacherous manager Paul Heyman (who stabbed both in the back during that same 'Mania 41 match), and some frost during recent WarGames bouts. Perhaps the most interesting thing would be whether or not WWE make Punk vs. Reigns babyface vs. babyface, or if one of them turns heel before the match happens.

Maybe Hunter will cross that bridge when he comes to it - this is Dave's prediction, not a spoiler, but the Observer chief is anticipating some real drama between CM and Roman at Survivor Series.

This Would Mark Roman's 11th WrestleMania Main Event

Roman Reigns first headlined WWE's biggest annual PLE way back at WrestleMania 31. There, he worked Brock Lesnar in the main event before Seth Rollins infamously cashed in Money In The Bank to leave as champion. That bout got the ball rolling on years of 'Mania domination for the 'Big Dog'/'Tribal Chief'/'OTC'.

He main evented opposite Triple H at 32, then against The Undertaker at 33. By 34, Roman was wrestling Lesnar again, but he missed out on the top berth at 35 because Vince McMahon gave the nod to Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair instead. At that point, 'Mania wasn't a multi-night affair. It wouldn't become that full-time until 2020's WrestleMania 36.

Reigns skipped that event due to COVID reasons, but was back in the saddle for 37 and a Triple Threat with current AEW men Edge and Daniel Bryan. At 38, he once again battled old foe Brock, then surprisingly beat Cody Rhodes at 39. WrestleMania 40 in 2024 saw Reigns work back to back main events across both cards. He teamed with The Rock vs. Cody and Rollins on night 1, then dropped his belt to Rhodes on night 2.

Last year, at 'Mania 41, Reigns was part of that aforementioned 3-way with Punk and Seth.

This all adds up to mean that a headline slot at WrestleMania 42 would represent Roman's 11th with top billing. That's an incredible stat, and it really shows just how huge a part of WWE's product Reigns has been since establishing himself as a top star worthy of 'Mania main events in 2015.
