Last summer was agonising at times.

Braun Strowman's Universal Title reign was, for lack of a better word, sh*te. WWE mired him in lame comedy bits with The Miz and John Morrison, then made a mess of his history with Bray Wyatt. Braun's reign made SmackDown a lesser show, and there's little doubting that a WWE Title win at Backlash would do the same to Raw.

Some wrestlers just don't need belts, and Strowman is one of them. He's yet to have a reign that anybody could honestly say worked out; there's a reason for that. Braun is marketable enough without championships, and WWE would be lying if they said they knew how to book him as a champ worthy of fan sympathy or attention.

Putting the WWE Title on him would be a huge error. Saying that, it'd be even worse if WWE then came to a last-minute arrangement with a beloved star and decided to teach him a lesson by feeding him to their 'Monster'...
