WWE WrestleMania: Every Women's Championship Match Ranked From Worst To Best

22. Trish Stratus (c) Vs. Christy Hemme - WWE Women's Championship (WrestleMania 21)

Was this better than Melina vs. Ashley? No. Far from it, actually. The only reason this comes at a spot higher than the WrestleMania 23 contest is because it featured heel Trish Stratus, which is never a bad thing.

Like Ashley, Christy Hemme received this title opportunity because of a Playboy-related story arc. WWE quickly realised that because she was receiving $250,000 from winning the Diva Search, they might as well get a little something back from her. That something was apparently a Women's Championship bout on the biggest wrestling show of the year.

Yeah! That'll show her!

Hemme didn't necessarily embarrass herself against the now-Hall of Famer, despite having only had a few months of experience at the time. Bringing in Stratus' long-time enemy Lita to train the future IMPACT Wrestling ring announcer was about the only way WWE were going to be able to get anything good out of the match.

Aside from a genuinely acceptable Twist of Fate execution, the match was, unsurprisingly, all Trish. She's just that good. Of course, she's not a wizard, though, so there was no way of completely saving this match. Seriously, what is it with WWE giving wrestlers who aren't yet ready for it a championship bout on their biggest show?
