The wedding of Daniel Bryan and AJ Lee was heavily promoted for the 1000th episode of Raw in July of 2012. Since weddings typically do a good job of bringing an audience, it was a smart move on WWE's part to include that. Their relationship was a rocky one on the road leading up to the wedding. When it looked they had broken up, Bryan ended up proposing to her to set up the wedding. There were all kinds of questions of whether it would even happen. Remember that at the time AJ was booked like a crazy woman that also got involved with other men, including CM Punk. Of course the ironic thing about that is that she legitimately married him less than two years later even though they weren't dating at this point. The ceremony was entertaining with Slick brought in to officiate things. He was hilarious reacting to the crowd chanting "What" at him. The fans also chanted "no" when it looked like Daniel was telling AJ that he will always love her. Both of them said "yes" when asked if they would take each other as husband and wife. Then AJ cut Slick off. She wasn't saying yes to Daniel. She was saying yes to another man that made a proposal to her. It was Vince McMahon. He offered her the job of GM of Raw and she took it. That was it for her and Bryan. It was one of the most surprising twists in WWE wedding history. The AJ character was at her peak at this point and they wanted to capitalize on her appeal by giving her an even bigge role by making her the GM of the show. It wasn't a role that lasted too long for her, but it was a memorable moment when she left Bryan at the altar.
