1. Miss Elizabeth & "Macho Man" Randy Savage
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVXwLBIzcys The final spot on our countdown, unquestionably goes to "Macho Man" Randy Savage and "the First Lady of Wrestling" Miss Elizabeth. When Elizabeth debuted as Savage's mystery manager, people were instantly enamored with her. Her elegance was an equal match for Savage's flashiness and together they made a truly glamorous couple. Rightfully so, Savage was extremely protective of his better half; after all, Elizabeth was not a wrestler or a trained fighter, she was a petite woman in an industry dominated by aggressive men who wanted to hurt Savage by any means possible in their own attempt to climb to the top. Unfortunately, Savage's overprotective nature would devolve into jealousy, such as the case when Savage accused tag partner and friend Hulk Hogan of having lust in his heart for Elizabeth. While Elizabeth was Savage's greatest motivation and inspiration, she was also an inadvertent source of frustration for him. Despite his gruff demeanor, Elizabeth stood by "the Macho Man's" side until he dismissed her and replaced her with "Sensational" Sherri Martel. At WrestleMania VII, as Sherri put the boots to Savage after losing to The Ultimate Warrior in a Retirement Match, it was the non-confrontational Elizabeth who jumped the guardrail, making a heart-stopping return as she jumped into the ring and tossed Sherri to the outside by her hair. The reunion of Elizabeth and Savage left grown people in the audience weeping tears of joy and stands up against time as one of the most memorable moments in all of Professional Wrestling, not just WWE. That demonstrates, at least to me, how much people cared about their relationship ... even if Elizabeth was gone most of the year or even if they had hated Savage prior to Elizabeth's return. Soon after, Savage became a changed man, proposing to Elizabeth and marrying her in the ring at SummerSlam in 1991. After a feud with Jake "the Snake" Roberts (who ruined the couple's wedding reception with a king cobra wrapped up in a wedding present), Savage went on to defend Elizabeth's honor after Ric Flair claimed "she was mine before she was yours" in reference to Elizabeth. Flair went one step further, threatening to show naked photos of Elizabeth at WrestleMania VIII. Shortly after making one final appearance in the then-WWF, Elizabeth and Savage (who had been married in real-life long before they had their SummerSlam wedding) officially divorced with the only reference being made to it including a statement from Savage himself that went to print in WWF Magazine. They were the couple that set the standard for other relationships to come. A standard that has not been met and probably won't be raised for a few more years to come. Whether they made you angry or ecstatic, made you laugh or cry, made you uncomfortable or made your stomach turn, there's no denying that these twenty couples left their mark on World Wrestling Entertainment, and proved that the commercialized sentiment of Valentine's Day is true: when it comes to love, anything is possible ... ... Including giving birth to a hand.
