WWE's 20 Greatest Couples

2. Triple H. & Stephanie McMahon

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blVgiF9O-gw The beginning of their relationship was one of the most shocking moments in WWE history ... and morphed from fictional on-screen marriage to real-life romance! The innocent and sweet daughter of Chairman Vince McMahon was all set to marry her boyfriend, former WWE Superstar Test, when Triple H. crashed the nuptials to announce that Stephanie was the new "Mrs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley," having taken her to a drive-thru chapel in Vegas while she was unconscious and marrying her. Stephanie was horrified, Vince was furious, and secretly, I think Test knew he was about to be edged out of a storyline! After turning against her father and revealing that she was on Triple H.'s side, Stephanie shed her naive nice girl act and lay claim to the moniker "the Billion-Dollar Princess." Staying loyal to her husband, Stephanie made it clear that she turned against Vince to get even with him for being in cahoots with The Undertaker when Undertaker kidnapped and terrorized Stephanie earlier in the year. Looking to seize control of the company, Stephanie and Triple H. formed the McMahon-Helmsley Regime and began running roughshod over whoever they chose with help from Stephanie's brother Shane, Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco, and members of D-Generation X. No one was safe from their wrath as their targets included Kane, Rikishi Phatu, The Rock, and even Women's Champion Jacqueline Moore. If you think that Triple H. and Stephanie were all business though, you would be mistaken, as the couple had several humorous moments throughout their marriage, making it known that their relationship was rife with communication problems and that both of their egos were capable of getting out of control. In the end, Triple H. grew tired of his wife's bratty behavior and when Stephanie feared that he would leave her, she announced she was pregnant! On the night that the two were to renew their wedding vows, Triple H. discovered from his mother-in-law Linda that Stephanie had lied about her pregnancy, causing "the King of Kings" to ditch Stephanie at the altar after pie-facing her to the mat and Pedigreeing her father. What followed next was a bitter divorce war on the road to WrestleMania X8 and Stephanie's eventual "firing" from the company. In 2003, Stephanie and Paul Levesque (aka Triple H.) married in real-life, and in 2007, during the 15th anniversary of RAW, Stephanie planted a kiss on Triple H., adding it into television canon that they were, in fact, married. Currently, Stephanie is the heir apparent to WWE's throne, with Triple H. acting as COO of the company. On television, the couple are the leaders of The Authority, an updated version of The Corporation, although sometimes it is hard to tell whether or not they are on the side of good or the side of evil.
