WWE's AAA "Endgame" Plans Revealed! (WWE News)
Konnan discusses what WWE's "endgame" is for AAA.
With various questions surrounding WWE's ongoing acquisition of AAA, the legendary Konnan has now detailed what WWE's "endgame" is for the Mexican promotion.
Speaking on his Keepin' it 100 podcast (via f4wonline), K-Dawg reiterated that WWE's ultimate aim is to get a US TV deal for AAA.
As Konnan explained:
"We had a lot of bad luck getting here, but we're finally here. And [WWE's] endgame is to get us a TV deal. And if that happens, s**t's on, right? But all I've been doing is advocating Lucha, advocating Lucha, advocating Lucha. And you see what happened? And this is just a beginning. They're really invested."
Where the recent Worlds Collide event is concerned, Konnan said WWE was pleased with how the show went, noting how WWE President Nick Khan told him that it was a "grand slam".
The former AAA Americas Heavyweight Champion and CMLL World Heavyweight Champion added that more AAA shows in the future are likely to feature English language commentary, and how "we'll start to see episodic storytelling" once a US TV deal is in place.
Of course, one other topic that came up during this K100 episode was Mr. Iguana, the man who found himself with a whole lot of buzz coming out of Worlds Collide. Backing up those recent reports of how well-received Iguana has been by those in WWE and how his merchandise numbers are already strong, Konnan mentioned how Mr. Iguana's t-shirt is the fifth best-selling in all of WWE, which is even more impressive when you consider that Mr. Iguana is, as Konnan put it, "the guy that came on TV once".
In the case of Mr. Iguana, the man himself recently claimed that he'd be heading straight to the WWE main roster soon rather than spend any time in NXT, with WWE seemingly keen to strike while the iron's hot after Iguana stole the show at Worlds Collide. Likewise, a Mr. Iguana video package on Raw last week received a major pop from those fans in attendance.
