WWE's Counter-Programming Of AEW PPVs Just Hit A New Level (WWE News)

Triple H and TKO will add a last-minute September PLE to rival AEW's All Out 2025.

POST Wrestling is reporting that WWE plans to add a last-minute PLE to the 2025 schedule on 20 September. Obviously, that (ahem) coincides with AEW's All Out pay-per-view. Both events would run head to head on the same day. This marks the first time that a main roster WWE supershow locks horns with Tony Khan's company too, which is certainly something worth paying attention to.

WWE's bid to counter-program and effectively squash All Elite's calendar has just gone to the next level, people.

Truthfully, whilst there's every chance the 2 events run concurrently, POST Wrestling wasn't able to confirm a start time for WWE's show. AEW's All Out is set to beam live from Toronto's Scotiabank Arena at 8pm EST, and it wouldn't be a surprise if WWE/TKO went with a similar start time for their show too.

Until now, WWE has exclusively counter-programmed AEW with NXT events. To date, third brand fare has been lined up on the same day as AEW tentpoles like Double Or Nothing, All In Texas and Forbidden Door, but this feels much more aggressive from the company. Of course, it's their right to schedule shows whenever they like - AEW and Khan can't 'own a certain day' of the year.

There's no confirmation at time of writing on a host city or venue for this mystery WWE PLE, but the promotion will be in Ohio and Indiana for SmackDown and Raw respectively come 19 and 22 September.

Bad Blood 2025 Incoming?

POST Wrestling didn't say anything about this, but some online believe that the hastily-arranged 20 September PLE will be Bad Blood 2025. That event snagged the early-October spot last year, and it proved to be a success for WWE. There, CM Punk and Drew McIntyre revived the sagging Hell In A Cell gimmick with one of the best caged encounters in company history.

It's worth saying that Punk has another blood feud with Seth Rollins that deserves the Cell treatment. Could Punk vs. Rollins inside the classic structure headline on 20 September? That'd be some addition to the final quarter of 2025.

Again, Bad Blood hasn't been announced or officially confirmed, but it'd make perfect sense. Stay tuned for further updates as and when they're available.
