WWE's Crystal Ball: 8 Predictions For Superstars In 2016
2. John Cena Returns
The boos echoed throughout AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas following the intro to John Cenas music. Despite being away for so long and, frankly, sorely missed among a depleted roster thats been overburdened with injuries as of late, the crowd wanted very little to do with The Golden Boy at WrestleMania 32. No matter how much drama the man can bring to your average match, as his US Title Open Challenges were consistently a highlight of Monday Night RAW every week, the man can get no love from the crowd.
Much like how the fans should become adjusted to Roman Reigns being the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, theyll need to get accustomed to John Cena being back on their televisions every week in a role where he is prominently featured. While I think he will stray away from the championship that Romans holding in order for him to have his moment, it wouldnt be out of the question for 2017 to be the Year of John Cena at the helm once again. Doom and gloom, people. Get used to it.
For 2016, though, expect to see John Cena in the ring with some of the best workers in the business. Seeing a match between him and AJ Styles before AJ has a mid-card title reign, for example, wouldnt be shocking, as Styles was the face of TNA during the same era where John Cena was The Guy in all of professional wrestling. All of this will lead up to a slow build for what will be The Undertakers final match at WrestleMania 33 against Cena, a dream match for Vince McMahon, and one that he simply wont let go of. It was the original plan for WrestleMania in Dallas this year, but Cenas injury derailed that concept momentarily.
Will John Cena defeat Taker on the grandest stage of them all next year? Who knows, but the build begins in 2016.
