What’s the wrestling world coming to when a heel wrestler has to explain that they weren’t really being a dick and that it’s all part of their character as they look to promote the chance of seeing them get their ass kicked in a town near you?

Well, that’s what’s happened with WWE’s Lacey Evans.

This past weekend, Evans made waves online after she put out a video of her arguing with a police officer in Edmonton, Canada. The video itself was actually pretty entertaining, with the Sassy Southern Belle even pulling out her “nasty” schtick on the law officer.

After some people got a tad antsy about Evans disrespecting the cop, the grappler – who is famously a former law enforcement officer and Marine – had to take to social media to explain that this video was completely staged and in character as a way to *shock horror* make her character look like an ass and promote a local live event.

Lacey Evans is currently scheduled for tonight’s Raw from San Francisco, California’s Chase Center – where her feud with Canada's own Natalya is expected to continue.
