2. The Austin Era Has Begun

When Stone Cold Steve Austin hit his patented Stone Cold Stunner, and Mike Tyson delivered the epic 3 count, it was a changing of the guard, so to speak. Shawn Michaels has been at or near the top of the card for 4 years. Though he reinvented himself time and time again, people were beginning to grow a bit bored by his act. They were looking for something fresh. They got exactly that in Steve Austin. Steve Austin is going to be the man that WWF will rely on, probably for years to come, and they couldn€™t have chosen a better act. Everybody can relate to Austin. He€™s a beer-drinking, finger-raising, boss-hating son of a bitch that can do everything we can€™t. He€™s the everyman hero that folks always seem to gravitate towards. This is why Die Hard€™s John McClaine is so popular. He€™s a normal guy that was put in extraordinary circumstances, and he came out on top. That€™s what happened to Steve Austin. He was given the ball and he is going to run with it. Look for Stone Cold to be this generation€™s Hulk Hogan. Nobody before or after Hogan has stirred up this much interest in professional wrestling. I wouldn€™t be surprised if Steve Austin even surpassed Hulk Hogan in terms of popularity. Which leads us to€
