6. No-Filler Tag Title Match Makes Up For Booking

Here’s where the earlier criticism about booking the New Day in a World Tag Team Championship match gets somewhat negated by good, crisp wrestling.

New Day battled tag champs AJ Styles and Dragon Lee Monday night in a nine-minute match that didn’t overstay its welcome and kept the action moving. Both teams pulled out some new moves: New Day hit a tandem wheelbarrow legdrop, while Styles reversed a Boom Drop into a pinfall attempt. The match accelerated when Dragon entered the fray, though New Day kept pace for a while.

The finish saw Lee nail a diving stomp to a draped Kofi Kingston, which catapulted him into a Styles Clash for the win.

It really is a shame that there are only five tag teams on Raw, because Styles and Lee defending the titles almost weekly would be a great booking strategy. As it stands, if they insist on defending the titles weekly, they’re going to run out of teams before the end of the year.
