2. Full Of Punk And Vinegar

After Bron Breakker cut two acidic promos directed at CM Punk, the World Heavyweight Champion finally got to respond Monday night, and he didn’t waste any time in cutting into his 5 January opponent.

Punk started by calling him a “cross-eyed, Neanderthal nepo-baby” and went from there, attacking the entire Steiner family’s intellect and pointing out that Breakker only pinned him at WarGames after his entire team hit finishers on the champ. He warned Bron that Paul Heyman repeatedly gasses up the “next big thing” and then quickly moves on when they fall short of expectations.

And Punk warned Breakker that if he ever mentions AJ Lee’s name again, their feud would become personal, and he would “rip your eyes out of your head and piss on your single-digit IQ brain.” Well, that was a visual.

As promos go, Punk has cut so many great ones that the majority fall into a tier below the greats, but are still better than what 90% of the WWE roster recites most weeks. Monday’s screed had some good fire behind it and dispensed with any pleasantries, which made it feel more “vintage Punk.”

Best of all, Punk attacking Bron’s father and uncle made him guilty of the same thing he was angriest about with Breakker: making the rivalry personal by going after family. And then he paid for it an hour later when Bron speared him post-main event.
