When John Cena started in the WWE he wore generic, brightly coloured trunks and boots (usually the colours of the city's home football/basketball/baseball team). He wasn't going to get anywhere looking like the most plain, nondescript wrestler of all-time. When Cena hit the big time, he traded in the generic, brightly coloured tights in favour of generic, brightly coloured t-shirts.
