Xia Li's First Feud Revealed On WWE SmackDown
SmackDown's latest female star just interjected herself into an ongoing WWE story.
Xia Li will team with Naomi to fend off Sonya Deville, Shayna Baszler and Natalya, at least in the short term.
The former NXT star finally made her debut on Friday's episode of SmackDown after weeks of protracted vignettes displaying her as some sort of "protector". That character came to the fore when Li stormed out to stop Deville's goons from putting the boots to Naomi.
Xia was even handed an elaborate entrance. It's doubtful fans in the arena saw what people at home did though - Li cut various poses, and lightning effects were splashed over the top of her hands, head and body. Announcers Michael Cole and Pat McAfee popped for the display, so they must've had those graphics on their monitors at the desk.
The Sonya vs. Naomi angle hasn't been without hiccups, but this is a decent spot for Li. She's entering a story that WWE seem to be dedicated to, and she might even get a few bouts against Baszler and Natalya out of it too.
Don't be shocked if WWE books a tag match (Xia and Naomi vs. Shayna and Nattie) for next week's show.
