Zack Ryder's 10 Biggest Underdog Moments In WWE
8. Beating Chris Jericho (Raw, 28 March 2016)
Unlike many main roster guys and girls who journey to NXT to rejuvenate their careers, Zack Ryder was still a full-time competitor on Raw and SmackDown, and split his time between the main roster and the developmental brand. His hard work paid off, too, as it earned him a spot in the Intercontinental Championship Ladder match at WrestleMania 32.
But before he could contend for the gold on the grandest stage of them all, he first had to do battle with Chris Jericho on Raw six days ahead of the event. Jericho was preparing for war himself against AJ Styles at WrestleMania. Due to having his mind set on Sunday (as well as a distraction from The Phenomenal One on the ramp), Jericho was rolled up by Ryder for the three count, much to the shock and awe (and elation) of the Brooklyn crowd.
What started as a standard squash match ended in utter humiliation for Jericho, but more importantly, it gave Ryder one of the biggest victories of his career up to that point. Most people tend to remember his historic WrestleMania win from that Sunday more fondly, but lest we forget The Long Island Iced Z does indeed hold a victory over the former six-time world champion.
