WWE typically gets cute with their holiday shows and this year's Fourth of July Raw was no exception. The episode was headlined by a massive 16-man elimination tag team match pitting Team USA (captained by Big Show) against Team World (captained by Chris Jericho). Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens couldn't coexist, Kane was disqualified for no reason, and Cesaro attacked his own teammates. In so many words, the match was one giant mess.
Few feuds were furthered, so while it served little purpose from a storyline standpoint, it was fun for what it was worth. Once all the most prominent stars in the match were eliminated, it came down to Big Show and Zack Ryder against Sheamus. The Celtic Warrior did his best to overcome the odds, but it was a knockout punch from Show that allowed Ryder to lead his team to victory.
What separated this from his Battle Royal triumph four years earlier was that this was exactly what he needed to get his career back on track. That same week on SmackDown!, he defeated Sheamus in clean fashion before challenging Rusev for the United States Championship, signaling that things are finally starting to look up for The Broski. And it all started with that victory in the main event of Raw.
