13 Worst Performances In Otherwise Awesome Blockbusters

8. Russell Crowe (Javert) - Les Miserables

Storm Halle Berry
Universal Pictures

The Movie: Tom Hooper's adaptation of the hit musical is passionately directed, superbly performed by Anne Hathaway (who won an Oscar for her work) and Hugh Jackman, with gorgeous cinematography, sets and costumes to boot.

Most of the songs are well-represented, even with all the singing captured live rather than, as usual, pre-recorded and mimed over.

The Performance: Crowe's tone-deaf performance as Inspector Javert is the single weak link, and while it's almost admirable how zealously he commits to the part, it's just a shame nobody told him he couldn't really sing before the won the role.

Whenever Crowe sings, it's less reminiscent of the source material and more of Pierce Brosnan's horrendous attempt at crooning in Mamma Mia. It's hilariously awful and wince-inducing all at once.
