7 X-Men That Badly Need Recasting and Who Should Play Them

We want to see Cyclops, Gambit, Storm and more return to the big screen, but with new actors playing them...

That is, of course, depending on whether or not the following X-Men characters will actually return€ although with two X-Men films already in production, Wolverine and X-Men: Days of Future Past, and the rumoured (but not really mentioned for a couple of years) X-Men 4 and 5, you€™d be pretty silly to suggest otherwise. And hey, it€™s pretty damn likely we will be seeing a million reboots of X-Men within the next 100 years of cinema. Having just written an article for What Culture (5 Reasons Why X-Men: The Last Stand is Better Than X Men: First Class), I€™ve been thinking a lot recently about what I think are the major failures of the X-Men films (all of them), and I keep coming back to casting. All Superhero films suffer from this problem, particularly in the production stages. It€™s very difficult to find an actor who can play a beloved, iconic, larger than life character and bring him/her from the page alive to the big screen, and at least 50% of the time the actor is probably not the right choice (Hey, it€™s difficult to please everyone). These are my top 7 choices, in order, of the X-Men characters that most badly need recasting, from all of the X-Men movies. And, if you strongly hated and disagreed with my last article, most of these choices don€™t appear in X-Men: First class at all. But I bet you can probably guess which one does.

I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
