It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that Scream and the View Askew universe take place in the same continuity, but Scream 3 provides solid proof of it. In their brief scene early in the movie, Jay and Silent Bob are seen wandering around with a studio tour, and when Jay tries to hit on Gale Weathers he’s met with a middle finger for his efforts.

It’s kind of out of place in the world of Scream, since most audiences probably won’t even know who the characters are supposed to be, but for Kevin Smith fans it’s a nice Easter egg.

Director Wes Craven later repaid the favour by making a cameo as himself in Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back, where he’s seen directing a parody version of Scream 4 featuring a monkey as the killer; it looks a lot more interesting than the one they ultimately made.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
