9 Movie Heroes Who Stupidly Turned Evil For The Sequel

Fans of Tron had to wait nearly thirty years for a sequel to arrive, and while it might have looked pretty and had an awesome Daft Punk score, it still plenty to be desired. The chief complaint was that Tron, the hero security program of the original, has been reprogrammed to become a near mute henchman who was sidelined for most of the film.

It could have been interesting to see Tron – renamed Rinzler in Legacy – struggling to remember his past, and eventually turn against his evil master, but the movie isn’t really interested in exploring that. So the title character is reduced to a cool visual who occasionally crops up before quickly disappearing again.

When he eventually does turn against Clu it holds no emotional weight, since it’s a subplot most viewers will have forgotten about by the time it happens. If a third movie ever happens maybe it could explore his redemption, but the odds of another chapter looks grim by this stage.
