Despite earning relatively universal acclaim upon its release, Arkham Knight has been a project marred with controversy. Already divisive amongst fans for its narrative conclusion and omission of modes once commonplace in the franchise, Rocksteady's threequel has done much to besmirch the studio's once immaculate reputation. Indeed, clawing back their good standing hasn't been made easy when the game's post-release platform has been so badly hindered by a notoriously poor PC performance, along with a Season Pass that has yet to prove its worth. Both points are worth equal criticism, but the latter has effected fans across all platforms. The pass was immediately met with scepticism when it was announced, a view that was warranted when it turned out that 'Story DLC' (bar the somewhat underrated Matter of Family) barely had playtimes running over the 10 minute mark, the most recent of which offered little more than a glorified predator encounter. Whatever way you look at it it's poor form, and the much-toted 'Season of Infamy' has done anything but inspire confidence in the fanbase. It's the final piece of content that Knight will receive once the Season Pass runs its course, but everything released thus far just seems to indicate that it will be more of the same; it features no new villains, doesn't appear to offer a narrative conclusion fans have been hoping for, and will almost certainly recycle past assets everyone who has played the series will be more than accustomed to. This isn't to say that the DLC's fate is sealed in the realms of mediocrity (I for one am really stoked to see Killer Croc's return), but everything about Knight's package so far just doesn't make Season of Infamy seem like a worthwhile investment.

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir.
