10 "Golden Boot" Candidates For 2013/14 Premier League Season

5. Wayne Rooney

wayne-rooney Rooney is a striker who has consistently scored a large amount of goals in the Premier League, without ever having won the "Golden Boot" award. In 2011-12, he scored a staggering 27 goals, an amount that would have won him the Golden Boot in 2012-13, and he also finished runner-up in 2009-10 to Didier Drogba, scoring 26 goals in the process. He is at the prime of his career, and is an outside bet to take that pivotal step into the number one spot once and for all. Whether he even gets the opportunity to do that is another question. Last season, he played second-fiddle to prolific new signing Robin Van Persie, and didn't even enter the Top 10 goalscorers. However, with a new manager in place, and rumours he may transfer to Chelsea gathering speed, the time may be right for a Rooney revival.
