10 Players Who Stole A Living From Newcastle United

Have you ever felt completely conned? Newcastle have.

Considering the vast amounts of money that Newcastle United have spent over their history - and particularly since the advent of the Premier League meant money became embarrassingly important - it was always going to be likely that some mistakes would be made. Players have been over-valued, or sold for less than they should have been, while others have been ignored entirely for inferior alternatives as Newcastle chased their chance to break into the Top Four elite, and thanks to the influence of self-serving agents and bull-sh*tting "advisers" it's hard for the scouting team to genuinely believe who is good and who is solid gold garbage. In the past, that analysis has failed sometimes laughably - including when Joe Kinnear was able to somehow convince Mike Ashley that he wasn't just a bumbling, out-of-touch buffoon with no credentials or contacts in the game - and players have been able to con their way to a rich living from the Tyneside club. Sadly, it continues to happen. To qualify for this illustrious list of blaggers and charlatans, players have to have either done nothing for the club, whether they were temporary loans, short-term contracts or over-stayers or who cost an eye-watering amount in transfers and wages and managed to make very little of an impact at all. By virtue of scoring a memorable goal against Sunderland, Albert Luque misses the cut - by the skin of his teeth - but some of his team-mates weren't quite so lucky...
